Nikon’s Coolpix L18 for 8 megapixel point and shooting

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Nikon Coolpix L18

Last up for Nikon this morning is their L18 compact point and shoot camera. Pretty decent, but standard specs here: 8 megapixel sensor, 3x Zoom-NIKKOR lens, 3.0-inch LCD, anti-shake AE (adjusts shutter speeds and ISO), face detection, and automatic red-eye correction. It also boasts a “TV quality” movie mode which we’re assuming means VGA. Available this March for $140 in ruby red or navy blue.

Panasonic’s DMC-FS3 busts free with a whimper

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Panasonic DMC-FS3Details continue to trickle out about Panasonic’s PMA 2008 lineup of digital cameras. Panasonic’s UK site has announced one of their new FS-series shooters, the DMC-FS3. No picture, unfortunately — that’s its DMC-FS2 little sis to the right. Nothing spectacular to report on this point and shoot: 8.1 megapixel CCD, 3x Leica DC VARIO-ELMARIT optical zoom lens, 2.5-inch LCD, and 21 scene modes. At least it features some proper optical image stabilization to keep things steady. Perhaps the most interesting thing here is the “pukweb04-dyn-news-onthemove-toyota” nonsense in the camera’s URL. Come on Panny, get it together, PMA opens in just two more days.

Will Aubrey Hookup with Donnie?

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Aubrey Donnie

I hope everyone tuned in for the season premiere of Making the Band 4 Season 2. If not, I’m sure MTV will play it again, just like they do with all their live reality TV shows.

If you did watch it, what you would’ve seen is a lot of quiet awkwardness followed by mad flirting and romance after few shots of alcohol. Aubrey was shaking and rubbing her bod against Donnie who didn’t seem to mind one bit. Qwanelle definitely has his eye on Dawn, and I think there was even some flirting going onto between Robert and D. Woods.

The bad boys and danity girls couped up in one penthouse is sure gonna make for one hot season!

Making the Band 4 Season 2

Season 2 of Making the Band 4 premiers tonight, and bandmates Michael, Robert, Brian, Willie and Qwanell and surprise solo winner Donnie are back together, ready to begin their journeys in the music industry and record their debut albums.

Yup, the Making the Band 4 guys are reuniting with Diddy and moving back into the penthouse. But there’s a twist … platinum-selling all-female pop group Danity Kane, winners of Making the Band 3, are joining the guys in the house while working on their new album! And Diddy wants to see who will finish first.

Season 2 of Making the Band 4 pits guys against girls, fresh faces vs. established artists to see who will be the first to complete their album. And, as if that isn’t enough reason to glue your eyeballs to the screen, Diddy is sure to throw them a few curveballs and there will definitely be some high voltage hookups, fiery feuds and intense infighting.

Will the guys be able to stay focused on the task at hand with the five lovely ladies of Danity Kane occupying the same space? The competition is going to be fierce, but Diddy’s protégés are ready to go full throttle into superstar mode. So, buckle up and prepare for impact, ’cause it’s time for another exciting season of Making the Band!

Show Time: MTV 10PM ET/PT, January 28th

Celebrity megastars Rihanna, Timbaland, Good Charlotte and other well-known artists are teaming up with H&M and Designers Against AIDS (DAA) to launch a clothing collection for guys and girls. The aim is to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS, which affects many young people all over the world.

“Supporting the Fashion Against AIDS campaign was a great way to encourage my fans to join me in the fight against HIV/AIDS. I love that H&M is providing a fashionable and easy way for young people all over the world to get involved in this worthy cause, “says Rihanna.
The artists donated their services, and 25 percent of the proceeds from the collection will go to HIV/AIDS prevention projects around the world. Samsung GX-20 DSLR gets official in the UK

Samsung GX-20 DSLR

Samsung’s GX-20 DSLR has taken a rather roundabout route on the way to release — first getting leaked on a Norwegian website and then getting official in Korea — but it looks like things are really pickup up now, with Samsung announcing the camera for the UK and, thankfully, providing all the details this time around. As we knew before, the DSLR is a 14.6-megapixel number, with a 2.7-inch live view LCD, RAW and JPEG modes, sensor-based image stabilization, and ISO settings up to 3200, among other equally impressive specs. What’s new this time around is the all-important price (£699, or just under $1,400), and some of the finer details, including word of two new lenses for the camera. What’s more, as Digital Photography Review points out, this announcement also confirms that the GX-20 is, in fact, essentially the same camera as Pentax’s just-announced K20D, with the Samsung boasting only a few minor cosmetic changes and, according the company, its own JPEG processing.

Panasonic Lumix LS80

We know how difficult it will be not to get your shorts twisted over Panasonic’s latest digital camera offering, the Lumix LS80, but please try. iPhone does guitars, spying with ease

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

iphone guit spy

Just when you think you’ve reached the apex of your iPhone’s capability, there comes another accessory-maker, modder, or developer to prove you wrong. One new feature comes in the form of a piece of software for Jailbroken iPhones (or touches) called PocketGuitar. The premise of this software is simple — it allows you to “play” the phone like an actual instrument, as well as strum along to your stored music — thus fulfilling a number of twisted, rock-nerd fantasies. When you’re done perfecting a version of “Frankenstein,” you can use your phone to stalk your estranged lover… provided you’re using Conice’s 6 x 18 zoom attachment for the phone, a hideous plastic beast that snaps onto your normally trim device. Hey, no one ever said stalking was going to be easy.
